Job Profile: GM of a Pro Sports Team
The General Manager of a professional sports team is like the head of any business organization.
Like the coach on the field, the GM off the field must
institute a game plan and see that each player follows it.
The pro sports GM must direct the day-to-day operations of the individual divisions that make the team function. From administrative affairs, to public relations, to promotions, the GM must see that the separate levels work and work well together. Education: A bachelor's in sports or business administration or other related field, a master's in sports or business administration or other related field. Experience: Years of experience at nearly every level of an organization are critical to developing the skills needed by a successful GM. Resume Builders: Good people skills. Good administrative, public relations, promotions, marketing and day-to-day operation skills.
Salary: Ranges from $50,000, average
$75,000, to the top $250,000 plus. |
